Two weeks ago, the Porter Lady Spartans made school history by winning a district team title. Flash forward to Thursday evening at Barbers Hill High School and the Lady Spartans captured even more hardware.
The Lady Spartans earned 116 points as a team to a dominating team win.
The top 4 finishers in each catergory advance to the Region III-5A meet at Turner Stadium in Humble next Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Spartans earned gold in four individual events and one relay.
Savannah Pennese won two golds – one in the triple jump (37 feet, 11 1/2 inches) and the other in the 100-meter hurdles (14.45). She also placed fourth in the long jump (17-00.50). Rebeca Gonzalez won the 800-meter race (2:21.10) and Laura Tonchina won the 3,200 (11:46.88). Gonzalez also won silver in the 400 (58.19) and Tonchina won bronze in the 1,600 (5:34.26).
The 4X400 relay was won by Tierra Mauney, Pennese, Kenady Carlie and Gonzalez with a time of 4:02.41.
Also advancing to the region meet were Jaelyn Stewart who was second in the discus (119-03.5) and fourth in shot put (36-01.50). Gracie Evers was fourth in the 800 (2:28.26) and third in the 1,600 (5:38.73). Tailyn Ward placed in the high jump in third (5-02).
